And here it begins. Again. This isn’t the first blog I’ve written; in fact, it’s really an update to one I began back in February this year. But I thought I should raise my game, really get down to serious blogging, dirty my soft, clean hands with FTP uploading, XHTML code while burning my nostrils with the sharp smell of PHP.

I confess I know very little of code, but I’ve worked out that it’s something I need to get to grips with a lot more. The wonderful world of publishing is promised a revolution, we hear; there will be electronic words illuminating electronic screens on Sony Readers, Amazon Kindles, mobile phones, PSPs, iPhones, and so on. Gone will be the days of good, old fashioned, Gutenburg-inspired ink on press/press on paper. That will be old hat.

Will that mean that consideration, thought, reasoned argument and level-headedness will disappear from the world of publishing? Will it be all about sensation, microblogging, bite-sized, search-engine-optimised firecrackers banging off left, right and centre? I’m not sure. I fear it will to some extent, but then, the tabloids in print aren’t too far from this now, anyway.

In any case, it’s a case of get busy living or get busy dying. So I thought I’d get this together and make it work. More content will be delivered as soon as it occurs to me, I’m sure. I look forward to it.
