ComputerArtsProjectsAdvertiThis one was something of a retrospective looking back at 20th century commercial design. The issue itself looked at 100 iconic designs; my part of the relay was to flag 20 revolutionary logos and posters. Packaging and, I believe, television, were covered elsewhere, but I got all manner of groovy designs to talk about, from Paul Rand‘s IBM logo, to the fabulous Beat The Whites With The Red Wedge, designed by El Lissitzky in the wake of the Russian revolution. I even got to speak to one or two of the legendary designers; Lance Wyman of 1968 Mexico Olympics fame, as well as Milton “I ‘heart’ New York” Glaser. It was pretty cool.

I’ve written a tiny piece elsewhere about this, so I won’t wax on about it too much. Read my Computer Arts Projects article for yourself. Have a blast!
